The felt on the blackjack tables
at Island View Casino Resort is usually green, but during October, a few of them have changed to pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Casinos show their pink sides with T-shirts, drinks and felts
MISSISSIPPI — Every October, people across the country show their support for those affected by breast cancer. The month has been dubbed National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in an effort to get more people mindful of the disease, along with early detection steps, available resources and fundraising possibilities.
Mississippi casinos show their support for breast cancer awareness in a number of ways. Table felts and casino lights turn pink, there are pink drink offerings, and even giveaways center around awareness of breast cancer. Here are
a few of the events during
National Breast Cancer
Awareness Month.
At WaterView
Casino Hotel in
Vicksburg, their message for
October is No One Fights
Alone. That message can
be found on the back of a
T-shirt that will be given away
on Saturday, Oct. 1. On the front of the pink shirt, it says Together We Fight. MyEdge cardholders can swipe at any promotional kiosk from 1 to 5 p.m. for a ticket to redeem in the Event Center for a T-shirt, while supplies last.
At Treasure Bay in Biloxi, blu turns pink in October for a special fundraiser. Raise a glass as the lounge features a custom Drink Pink menu. These pink cocktails will be available throughout the month, with proceeds from each one sold benefiting the American Cancer
Society. In addition to the special menu, the lounge will transform from its usual bluehuetoaboldpinkinashowof support for all those affected by this disease. Located on the ninth floor, blu is open daily 4 p.m. to midnight.
Adjacent to blu, The Den has a special à la carte menu all month long. The menu features a Hot Pink Grilled Shrimp Cocktail, Red Pepper Pasta with shrimp and vodka sauce, Strawberry Cake, and Pink Peppermint Ice Cream. Proceeds from these items will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Pink Your Drink at Hard Rock Biloxi. During October, iLOV305, the center
bar, has three pink drink specials. There is the Pink Bellini Daiquiri made with Ruffino Prosecco; the TaTa- Tini with vodka and huckleberry syrup; and the Pinky Promise, with Malibu and watermelon Red Bull. The drinks are $12 each, and a percentage of all proceeds will be used to help raise awareness and funds for breast
cancer research.
And in Gulfport, Island View
Casino Resort has changed the felt on a few of its blackjack tables, replacing the usual green with pink layouts. Through the month of October, two blackjack tables in Beach View Casino and two in Island View Casino will feature the new look in support of breast cancer awareness.
