Relax, casino spas have holiday specials for all

GULF COAST — They say December is the most joyous time of the year, and it really can be. It can also be one of the most stressful times of the year. There are events, shopping, wrapping, cooking — and that doesn’t even cover the everyday activities. So, why not squash that stress before the New Year with a visit to a casino spa and salon.
There are many holiday specials right now that can be purchased as gifts for others — or just as a wonderful treat for yourself. We recently visited the Blue Shell Spa at Island View Casino Resort. Located on the second level of the Beach View tower, Blue Shell offers massage therapies with a number of enhancements (hot oil scalp treatment, for one), body treatments and wraps, skin care treatments, facial enhancements, and manicures and pedicures.
Available through Jan. 1, holiday specials include a variety of manicures and pedicures, facials and massages. We enjoyed the holiday pedicure that featured a full pedi experience,includingarelaxinglegmassage and hot towel treatment.
We also indulged in the peppermint relaxation massage, a perfect head-to-toe treat (the scalp massage was wonderful) with a terrific holiday scent. In fact, there are components of peppermint that cause muscles to relax, which helps to relieve stress and anxiety. With both the massage and the pedicure, the technicians worked skillfully, taking their time to provide pleasurable experiences.
Additional holiday treatments include a manicure, pomegranate facial and foot therapy. There are also two packages, including one with a couples relation massage, moisturizing foot masque and essential oil scalp massage, and one with an aromatherapy massage and signature facial.
Friendly employees were on hand to greet us as we entered the spa, and we noticed the careful steps that were taken to ensure a safe and clean environment. A gift certificate to this wonderfully tranquil spa would make a great holiday gift.
Gift certificates to the Blue Shell Spa are available in person, by phone or email. Purchase a $100 gift certificate and receive a $25 voucher. Purchase a $200 gift certificate by Dec. 9 and get entered into a holiday raffle for a $100 gift certificate. The drawing will be held Dec. 16 with the winner announced on the Blue Shell Spa Facebook page.

Pure, the Palace spa, offers an 80-minute peppermint patty sugar
scrub and paraffin treatment. This treatment replenishes dry skin with
a chocolate and peppermint full-
body sugar scrub and massage.
There is also the elderberry skin-brightening facial that features an elderberry whipped hydrating mask. These special treatments are available through Dec. 31.
