Royal red shrimp live in very deep parts of the Gulf of Mexico. Chef Vazquez prepares them many ways along
with other seafood specialties from local waters.
“We flash-steam and season the shrimp with our house
seasonings,” the chef explains. “We also serve
them with our shrimp platter, which consists of royal reds, fried Gulf
shrimp and shrimp stuffed with our house crab cake
mix. We also have a steamed
oysters,” she says. “We sell them shucked fresh and raw or in several cooked dishes. We make all our sauces and desserts in-house. We have a Bienville sauce, which is a spicy shrimp and mushroom sauce that people enjoy with their oysters. We make just about everything on our menu ourselves with fresh ingredients, not frozen. That makes a big difference with the taste.”
Although part of the Island View Casino Resort complex,
the restaurant sits across 33rd Avenue from the casino near Gulfport Harbor. Following COVID-19 protocol, the restaurant has limited its seating to allow only 122 people in at a time. The restaurant is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
