The Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival is entering their interpretation of its sixth year of association with Blue Moon, an Blue Moon for a chance
“Artfully Crafted” beer.
“We have renewed our partnership with Blue Moon
through F.E.B. Distributing Company for the next
five years. It’s been a wonderful partnership, and
I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Blue Moon,” said Margaret Miller, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street- Tourism Bureau, sponsors of the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival.
Blue Moon celebrated two decades this year with
the main observance — Blue Moon Cheers to 20 years — on July 31. The brewery was founded in 1995 in Denver, Colo., by Keith Villa who created Blue Moon Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale. Since Valencia orange peel is part of the ingredients, the ale is known to be garnished with an orange slice when served.
When F.E.B. Distributing brought the Blue Moon partnership to the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival six years ago, it was a perfect match of creative economy, Miller said. Blue Moon follows the concept that brewing is an art and thus is in tune to being associated with an event of fine artists.
“Our partners at F.E.B. Distributing approached us with an idea to take part in the event, and begin a state-wide art contest where artists could paint
to be recognized by the
company Blue Moon,”
said Cynthia Dobbs
Sutton, events and public
relations manager for the
Ocean Springs Chamber
of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau.
The Blue Moon Art Project at the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival is open to artists in Mississippi to paint their interpretation of Blue Moon. The
top winner receives a $2,000 cash award and the opportunity to have his or her art showcased at the next year’s festival.
“When festival season begins, Blue Moons comes to life everywhere with displays at the grocery stores and outdoor seating tents. There are even rotating globes and more showcasing Blue Moon all over town,” Sutton said.
She added, “Their creative concept and focus on the community have settled well with the creative economy of Ocean Springs and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Together we are fostering new artists and through the project are bringing more light to the arts in Mississippi and the entrepreneurship of our economy.”
