When it comes to good financial habits in 2022,
you’ll probably hear a lot of “experts” say to stop buying
those $4 lattes or only eat at home. But with all the great local eateries on the Coast, you’d be giving up too much just to save a few dollars. Instead, here are some areas to focus on to create better financial habits.

SIDE HUSTLE
Today the internet has granted us access to all the resources we need to bring a product or service to life. If you want to start a good habit, take something you enjoy and are good at and start a side hustle. This will give you a passion project to work on that will not only advance your skills, but make you extra money for those lattes (and maybe an appetizer or two).
INVEST
When a lot of people hear the word invest, they cringe. They’re afraid of
a market crash and losing all their money. If this is you, relax. You don’t have to invest a lot, or even in the stock market, but you should do something with the money you make. You can invest in your own business or side hustle, in stocks, bonds, someone else’s
business, or even in cryptocurrency. Set aside a small portion of your income each month to invest. The beginning of the new year would be a good time to speak to a local financial advisor to get a plan together.

Now that everything has become subscription-based, households are averaging $273 a month in subscription payments, according to West Monroe Consulting Firm. We are all signing up to use Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Youtube Premium, Spotify, Apple Music, Paramount+, and the list continues. We simply can’t watch all of these services, and cutting back or bundling will help you save in 2022. Make this a habit of being disciplined with the subscriptions you obtain so that you don’t waste hundreds of dollars a month on extra services.
There’s always more you can do, but start here and build good habits for financial health in the new year.
