January 2022 is finally here! It’s a time
of new beginnings, commitments, and resolutions. Perhaps it’s the beginning of a new journey to an improved you? Maybe you are making a commitment to opt for healthier meal choices? Or mayhap you have resolved that this will be the year that you will finally look like your younger self in this summer’s two-piece?
However, maybe you are me. You may have well-thought-out intentions, but let’s be honest... you have zero intentions of letting anything come in between you and a delicious piece of freshly baked bread or chocolate chip cookie. Besides, everything in moderation, right? Luckily, a small coastal bakery is churning out absolutely delicious breads, sweets and pastries that are not only amazing deliciously, but as it turns out, healthy too!
Serious Bread Bakery is a locally owned
bakery nestled in the downtown area of Bay St. Louis. Opened in 2002 by the late Al “The Breadman” Jensen, Serious Bread is an artisan bakery that prides itself on a commitment to making from-scratch and hand shaped breads that are free from additives and preservatives, but full of flavor. Jensen’s original techniques resulted in breads that were free of harmful and unhealthy elements while still being abso- lutely delicious.
Under the leadership of Manager and Pastry Chef Patti Kallinikos, Serious Bread boasts a menu that draws little fuss, but makes a huge impact. A graduate
of the culinary program at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Chef Kallinikos loves the rules and rigidity that come with each loaf she prepares. Baking bread requires love, attention, and above all, patience. These qualities have helped
