What You Need to Know About Prostate Cancer
One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. How long has it been since you’ve seen your doctor?
The importance of annual check-ups for prostate cancer can’t be overstated, especially if you are 50 years of age and older or if you have a family history. Prostate cancer is diagnosed through a physical examination, a PSA blood test, imaging of the prostate and, potentially, a biopsy. With early detection, prostate cancer is highly treatable.
Prostate cancer remains the number one cancer among men in Mississippi, where as many as 1,400 new cases could be diagnosed each year, according to the American Cancer Society.
