  COAST NOTE
MERMAID SCALES AND PIRATE TALES
at Mississippi Aquarium October 28-31 and November 4-7
story by Kimberly C. Rasmussen photo courtesy of Mississippi Aquarium
Tales of swashbuckling pirates scouring the high seas in search of treasures below have filled curious minds for thousands of years. On quests to discover the most valued plunder, these fortune focused pirates were often met with wonderment at the sight of mermaids – enchanting sea-nymphs who tempted the pirates with their melodic songs and radiant beauty.
While mythical stories of these seafaring friends have struck the imagination of many, it is easy to question the validity of such tall tales. However, the Gulf Coast is in luck as Mississippi Aquarium is hosting a one-of- a-kind affair set to make this fairytale a reality.
Mermaid Scales and Pirate Tales is guaranteed to be an amazing experience for your entire family and will provide patrons an opportunity to learn more about mermaids in their natural habitat. Regular aquarium admission will allow guests the chance to watch the mermaids dive at the “Mermaid Reef,” visible from
the Aquatic Wonders main viewing window.
If you prefer to interact with the mermaids on dry
land, the “Mermaid Lagoon” will offer a mermaid meet and greet and photo opportunity. However, if your little mermaid or pirate is looking for something truly special and adventurous, a limited number
of VIP experience tickets will also be available for purchase.
With a variety of possibilities, the little mermaid or pirate in your life is sure
to enjoy a day exploring the beauty of so many sea creatures in their natural habitats.
