The teachers are all found within the eight Mississippi Counties that Hancock Whitney serves: Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Madison, and Pearl River. GCCF manages the grants and the selection of winners by using an independent committee that is not associated with Hancock Whitney.

The Leo W. Seal Innovative Teachers Grants help to commend some of the excellent teachers in our communities, alongside helping to fund creative learning projects that assist with students’ learning. The Seal grants are funded by Hancock Whitney and administered by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF). Each recipient receives up to $2,000 to activate their award-winning teaching initiatives at their respective school.

• Tammy G. McKenna at Pass Christian High School, Smarter Farming from the Ground Up, Literally!
• Jordan Roy at St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis, Growing Math Skills and Life Opportunities
• Erica Yong van Norden at Delisle Elementary School in Pass Christian, Galley in the Garden: A Farm to Table Inspired Cooking Show by the Pass Christian Pirates
Each teacher has created a unique and original educational experience for their students to help them learn not just academically, but also acquire real-world skills.
