story and photos courtesy of the Hancock County Community Development Foundation
Established with the specific purpose of sponsoring and supporting community programs that improve Hancock County, the Hancock
County Community Development Foundation has truly been a catalyst
for progress. It was founded in 2006 as an umbrella organization for multiple nonprofit causes for projects with a broad community focus. The Foundation now supports over 20 different charities, and has incubated multiple organizations that have gone on to stand on their own, such as the Lili Stahler – Murphy Ground Zero Hurricane Museum; The Arts, Hancock County; the Hancock Resource Center; and 100 Men Hall.

The Hancock Chamber of Commerce provides pro-bono staffing and day-to-day management to the Hancock County Community Development Foundation. It is governed by a separate Board of Directors who oversee finances, create policy and consider projects and initiatives.
If you have an idea for a charity that would serve Hancock County and would like to take advantage
of the services that the Foundation can provide, please contact the Hancock Chamber at 228.467.9048 to discuss the process and a strategy for success.
