Gulf South Roofing Has a Passion for Revitalization in South Mississippi
When Gulf South Roofing was awarded a contract for the new Salvation Army Community Center of Hope, owner Jacob North knew it was going to be a demanding, but exhilarating and worthwhile project.
“The building is much different than any other building
in downtown Gulfport and draws a lot of interest and modernization to the area,” North said. “It was a fun and challenging project, and we hope to be able to take on more projects like this in the future.”
North and his team installed a new standing seam metal roof and wall system for the center on 22nd Street in downtown Gulfport. The facility focuses on housing families and helping them get back on their feet. It was completed last summer.
“This job was an interesting and challenging architectural design because the roof panels integrated with the wall panels,” he said. “It required detailed fabrication skills. We actually custom-formed the panels on-site to ensure they fit seamlessly. The direction that the wall panels had to be installed created a lot of challenges, but we were determined to take them on head first.”
The vision for the roofing company has North and his team involved in additional projects seeking to revitalize the Gulf Coast by providing installation of shingle, metal, and flat roof systems for residential and commercial roofs. They offer roof inspections and custom sheet metal fabrication, including custom chimney caps.
“Having a full sheet metal shop allows us to have more options for installing or correcting challenging details,” he said. “We have the capability of fabricating just about anything out of sheet metal including soldered stainless steel pans for chimney flashings, dead valley transitions, and anything else a building design has to throw at us.”
They partner with several general contractors on new construction and renovations. “Having these partnerships allow us to be a part of revitalizing our communities whether it’s a commercial or residential job,” he said. “We want the work
we do and experience that we provide to be a staple in South Mississippi.”
The collaborative team at Gulf South Roof has about 50
years worth of experience in project management, sheet metal fabrication, and customer service. “I have a dream team behind me,” he said. “I truly get by with a lot of help from my amazing team. The vision and experience that I want to provide to South Mississippi wouldn’t be possible without these amazing people.”
North said one of the most rewarding things he and his team get to do daily is solve water intrusion problems for homeowners. “There is no greater feeling in the roofing industry than diagnosing a customer’s problem they been having for years, and then executing a plan to correct that problem with no issues,” he said. “The satisfaction we get from taking care of our customers is what keeps driving us forward.”
Shannon Dalessandri of Gulfport echoed the company’s knowledge and professionalism. “Gulf South Roofing replaced our 100-year-old roof in two days,” Dalessandri said. “The crew was amazing. They worked so hard and were always professional. Our new roof is beautiful.”
