FROM THE editor’s desk
This month, it’s all about the kids!
Gracing the cover of our Kids Issue are some of the
students at Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia in Ocean Springs. The school’s mission is to foster community- wide awareness of dyslexia, to identify children with the characteristics of dyslexia, and to provide an academic rich, research-based, multi-sensory, educational environment to include positive experiences that challenge students while building necessary skills for academic and personal success. Since their inception
in 2019, they’ve done just that and become a beacon to a brighter future for children with dyslexia across the Coast.
Also in this section, see what summer camps are available in South Mississippi, start planning your summer family activities, and get some ideas for your next craft project! In this section, we also celebrate some truly terrific teens. From the students of Lynn Meadows Discover Center’s WINGS Performing Arts program who recently represented South Mississippi at the 2022 Junior Theatre Festival Atlanta, to the friendly faces behind the Bacot McCarty Foundation, help us congratulate some of the Coast’s best and brightest!
Closing out our Kids Issue, Christy Elias, co-founder and owner of Gulf Coast Mom, shares with us her thoughts on motherhood and the importance of supporting other moms. Find out more about her organization, and the many amazing moms behind it, in our Final Say!
