FINAL SAY
  CHRISTY
Motherhood is... Hard. Rewarding. Everything you expected, yet nothing you could have ever anticipated. It’s joy and brokenness. It’s a spectrum of emotion that no one prepares you for. Feeling it all – the good, the bad, and the ugly – gives our lives a newfound purpose. It’s our greatest achievement and biggest reality check.
The reality is, motherhood isn’t easy
or perfect. We adjust to a new body. A new baby. A toddler, then a preteen. And finally, the (dreaded) teen years. Every stage is new, fun, and challenging. We learn and refocus. We adjust to each phase with grace, patience, and wine.
A Time Magazine survey found that half of all new mothers had experienced regret, shame, guilt, or anger, mostly due to unexpected complications and feeling
a lack of support. More than 70 percent of mothers felt pressured to do things a certain way.
We have these grand expectations of what our journey as a mother will be.
As mothers, we may set unrealistic goals and then become overwhelmed or find it difficult to cope. We feel as though we’ve failed. The reality is, we put so much pressure on ourselves. When life feels like it’s crashing down, who do you turn to?
At Gulf Coast Mom, we have created a platform that fosters a place for moms to be themselves. We provide the framework that allows you to feel supported, encouraged, and educated through our content, events, and resources. While
our parenting styles differ, we respect and support one another through this rollercoaster of parenthood.
We are enthusiastic to foster a community of moms who desire to empower one another. What better resource than local moms, ready to make a difference? And ready to tell their story to help other Gulf Coast moms through their journey!
Women empowering women is powerful. As these women become mothers and empower each other, we can truly impact our community. We often hear the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Here at Gulf Coast Mom, it takes a village to help the village that raises the child. We are that village for mothers.
