This striking cottage is decorated with Blanchard’s unique designs. As you enter her living room, you can't help but notice all the furnishings and artworks which adorn the place. The open floor plan of the kitchen and living room combination, encompass an air of hospitality and cordiality to the visitor. The white upholstered furniture and the distressed white- planked ceilings causes your eyes to carry through each showpiece she has created. Nautically themed, her whole house is a pearl of her works of art. The white sandstone fireplace sits centered in the house,
Blanchard having meticulously placed each sandstone fascia with an artist’s eye. Every metier was hand-crafted by her. She even installed the hard-wood flooring, one plank at a time.
Carrying through with the white theme, Blanchard took a poster bed, cut down the posts, and painted it with a high-gloss white enamel paint, dressed up the bed in a white duvet and pillow shams, and painted the chest of drawers to match. She adds a splash of color with a denim-themed quilt, which she also made as one of her many pastime ventures. The oversized antique facade
ceiling fan with embossed medallion balances the overall look and feel with something special. There is only one bedroom, which is the only room that is carpeted with white flooring as well.
Venturing down the hallway, Blanchard has transformed a small room, one of the Littles' children’s bedroom, into a master bathroom, with a beautiful sink cabinet made from an antique dresser. She had a garden tub installed where she can watch TV while relaxing from a long day of creating.
The back of the house is where her creative juices converge. The third bedroom has been transformed into her studio, where she creates and sells her handiwork. Each piece is very unique and irreplaceable. She uses all types of mediums for her inspirations. Re-purposing the studio window, Blanchard uses the sunlight to display each bottle of beads, bobbles, and shells, which she will use in future art projects.
As you round the corner of the room, you'll find the entrance to her studio where she sells her wares. Blue Door Studio is filled with all types of creations, from window frames designed with glass beads and marbles depicting mermaids and ocean scenes, to concrete leaf impressions painted and adorned with images from her unique artistic intellect.
Many of the elements within Blanchard work are resin encased in resin. Truly a remarkable artist, she spends her days searching for inspirations which speak to her.
