life was slower, and pleasures were simple. Enjoy a walk in the extensive manicured gardens, have a cool sip on the expansive front porch, or maybe take a dip on what is reportedly the first in ground pool in Mississippi. Renovated in 2007, the mansion is the perfect spot for a restful weekend, but it is also available for private parties and events. It’s a popular

The White House Hotel is a premier hotel located right on coastal Highway 90 in Gulfport. It was built as a family home
for prominent lawyer and later Circuit Court Judge Walter A. White. His wife Cora offered rooms to boarders and eventually expanded the property to

architectural style continues to reflect the beauty of the original White home. But with updated amenities and a Southern style restaurant appropriately named Cora’s, the White House hotel is a nice option for visitors seeking an elegant get-away.
On the east end of Mississippi’s Gulf Coast in Ocean Springs is one of the more unique spots on
our list. In fact, when you visit you may feel like you have left Mississippi! Inspired by the adventure seeking culture of the 1950-60s, The Beatnik, offers what they call a “New Way to Stay.” It features four modern floating cabins with wet bars and luxurious showers, a communal green space with fit pits and lounge chairs, and an inviting plunge pool. The minimalist décor, the accessibility for all
travelers, and its attention to every detail make this one a standout in our book.
So, when it’s hotter than blue blazes (who knows what that really means and yet we all seem to understand), head to the Mississippi beaches. Whether it’s a staycation or a traveling vacation, there are lots of ways to relax and lots of homes away from home waiting for you.
