The first child Johnson ever saw receive ABA therapy and inspired her to pursue a job in this field is the same child that she opted to take her photos with for this article.
“Once I saw the way it greatly improved the lives of children and families, I wanted to help as many people along the Mississippi Gulf Coast as possible,” said Johnson. “I saw a need for compassionate, high-quality services from someone who understands the importance of collaboration with families. At Victory Behavioral Center, we put a huge emphasis on parent training and ensuring that parents have the skills they need to help their child as well. We have gathered
a team of highly skilled professionals with a passion for helping children and families.”
Johnson believes in Applied Behavior Analysis because it is considered the only scientifically valid therapy available for treating behavioral issues associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ABA is the science of behavior and how to change those behaviors in a positive manner.
“ABA Therapy is designed to reinforce positive behaviors and help children with ASD develop the skills they need to learn appropriate social skills, communication, basic life skills, control outbursts or establish focus and attention,” says Johnson.
As to the effectiveness of ABA, The American Psychological Association, American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, National Institute of Mental Health, Association for Science in Autism Treatment, and Organization for Autism Research all agree that ABA is an evidence-based best practice treatment that is highly effective for individuals with autism.
At Victory Behavioral Center, all cases are supervised by licensed and
board certified ABA supervisors (BCBAs) and are conducted by certified
ABA technicians (RBTs). Individualized assessments, treatment plans, and collaborations with providers are designed and implemented by their Master’s- level clinicians (BCBAs).
