The public often has questions they’d like to ask a law enforcement officer. Biloxi Police Chief John Miller, with 30 years of service to the department, is a credible officer to query.
Chief Miller started as a patrol officer and says he has no regrets about his chosen career. He completed all the required training, including the mandatory training academy. “You go through 500 to 600 hours of training before you’re on your own,” he said.“There’s a lot to remember.”
After six years of “being on the road” as a patrolman, he became part of the criminal investigation department, which requires more education along with continuing education each year.
As a veteran police chief who meets monthly with other police chiefs and the Harrison County sheriff, Miller has the pulse of Coast law enforcement. He responds to some frequently asked questions.
