Sometimes don’t you just want to go where everybody knows your name? Isn’t that
the cherished mantra? A comfortable spot that offers cold beer and craft cocktails? Somewhere where you can find delicious daily specials and exceptionally good food? And above all, a locale that boasts a relaxed and inviting atmosphere? Does such a destination exist? Absolutely! And downtown Ocean Springs is home to just that place: Knuckleheads. Checking all the boxes of what you would expect from any good, local eatery, Knuckleheads is a great place to relax, dine and enjoy.
Going four years strong, Knuckleheads
is home to an eclectic yet simple menu. Elevated bar food was the goal when owner Heath Allen first opened the doors in 2018. He wanted a handcrafted menu that offered variety and sophistication without being overly complicated. After being jokingly referred to as a knucklehead himself and as an ode to the building’s original set up as Mohler’s Gas Station, Knuckleheads became the perfect name to capture the entire vibe that Allen wanted to portray. The end result
is a perfect mix of an authentic atmosphere, quality service, and a really, really good burger.
Kick off your meal with some serious heat from the Sweet Chili Shrimp. A half-pound of Gulf shrimp is battered, fried, and then slathered in sweet chili sauce. The house Shrimp and Sausage Dip is also equally amazing. Shrimp and Conecuh sausage are mixed with cream cheese and served warm alongside fried wonton chips and a house, Peachy Sauce. The dip was originally served fried inside individual wontons, but as it grew in popularity, it grew to stand on its own. The Mississippi Pot Roast Poutine is Allen’s take on your standard gravy fries and is the most popular appetizer on the menu. Hand cut fries create a bed for Knuckleheads’ signature Mississippi pot roast, provolone, and au jus. After a few bites, you’ll know why this is a crowd favorite.
Knuckleheads also boasts an awesome array of sandwiches. Po’boys and a steak sandwich are a few great options, but the Mississippi French Dip is the go-to choice. It’s a decadent sandwich that also features Knuckleheads’
