The Hancock County Community Development Foundation (HCCDF) recently honored the late Tony Trapani, a beloved member of the Bay St. Louis community and fixture on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Culinary scene, by dedicating a Heritage Memorial Star in his memory. The dedication ceremony took place on Saturday, July 8 at Trapani’s Eatery.
Trapani was a respected member of the community. He was the co-owner and chef at Trapani’s Eatery since 1994. He was known for his commitment to the Bay, his determination to keep the restaurant going against all the odds faced over the years, and his unwavering love for his family – especially his children, Grace and Joseph. The Heritage Memorial Star will serve as a fitting tribute to his legacy and his contributions to the community.
“Tony was a beloved member of our community, and his contributions to the Bay will never be forgotten,” said Wendy McDonald, President of the Hancock County Community Development Foundation. “This memorial will serve as a lasting tribute to his legacy and his dedication to making the Bay a better place.”

August 19 is set for the La Pointe-Krebs House annual fundraiser. Cattails & Cocktails will be held at the Pascagoula Country Club from 6:30 to 10 p.m. for $30 per person.
Chairman Gina Underwood said, “We alternate this event with Fete La Pointe. The last time 150 people attended and we would love to see 200 this year.”
With plans to eat, drink and be generous, organizers hope to raise $12,000 for the historical house. There will be dinner, drinks, raffle roulette, door prizes, a wine pull, a DJ and dancing. “The La Pointe-Krebs House is the oldest structure in the Mississippi Valley,” Underwood said. “While the home is known to be the beginnings of the Krebs and La Pointe families, thousands of others’ roots lead back to the home and grounds. With the recent renovation, it’s of the utmost importance to continue preservation and maintenance.”
