MARKETING AND MORE!!
Looking at these numbers, business management seems to be the most popular area of study for women interested in the business world.
Dr. Joanna Alston, Dr. Debbie Brandon, and Megan Parker, faculty of the Harrison County Campus, weighed in: “The perk of studying business is the versatility of the skills taught in our programs. These skills can be used in virtually all areas of business.”
Marsha Cummings, Sydney Fletcher, Jennifer Wood, and Raegan Pisarich, faculty of the Jackson County Campus, point out that all organizations, whether they be private, public, or nonprofit, need business knowledge.
While there are many options for women seeking an associate of applied science degree, there is also the Bachelor of Science in Business preparatory program
that offers women the opportunity to take basic business courses like accounting, economics, and business law. Once completing these basic courses with MGCCC, students can transfer to a university and pick a specific field to study. “Field options in the post-baccalaureate business world are endless!” says the faculty of the Harrison County Campus.
The college prides itself on the fact that an important part of the mission of the business programs is reaching out to women who have been out of the workforce and want to rejoin. “We hope women see an education with MGCCC as a starting point to connect with their community and discover more about their own achievement potential,” Wood explains.
The world of business has something for everyone. “If math is your strong suit, focus on accounting or finance. If you enjoy people, study economics. If you like to read and research, business law is great. If you are a good leader, management is a good option,” the faculty of Harrison County add. “Women have not always been welcome
in the business field, but that has changed drastically. It
is incredibly important for women to stay involved and continue to lead.”
