HOME
PRETTY IN PINK story by Victoria Snyder
Pink can be a fun, bright, and cheerful color, or lend an air of sophistication to a room. Most of the time, that is. However, if the color is used too much, the room can begin to feel childish. How can you avoid this and decorate tastefully when using pink in your home? Let’s find out!
If you aren’t ready to totally commit to pink, then decorations are a great place to begin! Start off with a few statement pieces. Buy a pink cushion, some pillows, a rug, a piece of art, a vase, or even some flowers – whatever you like best! These pieces can easily be moved and switched around to keep your home feeling vivid and lively.
A soft pink on your walls can feel soothing to the soul. This color can easily be used on all four walls of a room if
so desired – however, a brighter pink begins to feel overwhelming when you’re surrounded by it.
The trick to getting that pop of hot pink in a room without it feeling like too much? Make one wall into an accent wall! This gives that feeling of bright cheerfulness without feeling like a bottle of Pepto Bismol exploded on the walls. Patterned pink wallpapers can also be used to make a statement.
Much like with walls, a little bit of pink furniture can go a long way, depending on the color. You can buy a statement piece like a pink couch for your living room if you want something already done. But if you’re looking for a DIY project, you can repaint a dresser, a chest of drawers, or a vanity! The choice is up to you.
Pink can be a very versatile color if used correctly. Add a feeling of sophistication to an office with light pink and gray, some life and freshness to a living room with soft pink and green, or make a trip
down a bland hallway into an invigorating experience with fuchsia. Some other colors pink can be paired with include chocolate brown, black, blue, and metallic gold or silver.
