Leslie Suit, of RE/MAX Results in Real Estate, got hooked on the profession when she was taking real estate classes taught by Roger Poulos at the University of Southern Mississippi. “What I like best about it is meeting new people,” she said. “The different dynamics of each real estate transaction keeps me on my toes and support my high-energy personality.”
She advises young female entrepreneurs to be resilient and
not be brought down by the opinions of others. “Don’t get stuck comparing yourself, or your success, to other women based on their social media profiles because, as we all know, they are often not indicative of their real life,” she adds. “Just be the best that you can be, treat others with kindness, and the rest will fall into place with hard work and dedication. Be a warrior!”
Suit feels it’s important to support other woman-owned businesses because all women share so many of the same struggles in life. “Opening and running a business takes so much courage and hard work, and comes with a great deal of stress and anxiety,” she says. “I think it is especially hard for women to balance
that with families and personal lives. We need to recognize and celebrate the success of other women, support one another and build each other up.”
She opened an indoor cycling franchise called CycleBar in Hattiesburg and ran it for three years before selling it. “It was one of the most fun and rewarding businesses I have ever done. Much like real estate, it was all about the clients and forming life-long relationships. It taught me a new level of hard work, commitment and extremely high-level customer service.”
Raising her son, Tanner, and being a good daughter and wife are what Suit considers her greatest success.
Two of her favorite Coast restaurants are Chimneys in Gulfport and Field’s in Biloxi. Her other favorite aspects of Gulf Coast life are the water and barrier islands. “We are so fortunate to be able to drive down the beach and look out at the Gulf of Mexico any time we want,” she says.
