  Woman
 Like A
If you’re flipping through this magazine, chances are you wanted to see and read about successful women in business. You know that women are good to have involved in business – just look at all these thriving women we’re featuring in this issue! But what makes women so important to have in leadership roles? What exactly do they bring to the workforce that can help make them so successful?
It’s well known that gender diversity – and diversity in general – creates a more inclusive workforce that is more representative of the world, making it easier to connect with consumers. But what are some other pros of having women in the workplace and holding positions of power?
This same diversity of people brings about more innovation. Differing
story by Victoria Snyder perspectives on a topic can bring about
more creative solutions or original ideas. Throughout history, women have
typically been belittled for being too “emotional” and “caring.” However, women’s empathy and sensitivity have been shown to actually be helpful
in the workplace. This emotional intelligence helps to make women better communicators. They are better at constructive communication and constructive criticism because they want to understand and empathize. Women can be more active listeners and care about what coworkers are telling them. They encourage teamwork and are good at working in teams. Women are better at making other’s feel valued
and like they truly play an important role in contributing their work to the organization.
Women have been shown to identify and assess risk well and trust their instincts when they feel off about something. They also are better at thinking ahead, which can help an organization long-term by not just focusing on the short-term health of a company. Having a woman in charge can also be better for a healthy work-life balance because they are more likely
to understand the importance of time away from work.
Please keep in mind that these aforementioned attributes may not apply to every woman or think that they don’t apply to some men – everyone is different and unique! But don’t be afraid to appear “overly emotional” or “bossy.” You can be logical and emotional. Caring about things gives you power.
