      FAMILY DENTISTRY
  Karen M. Crews, D.M.D
What characteristics make a great doctor?
Good doctors are people who strive for excellence, are compassionate, caring and kind, and always values the unique qualities that each person we serve brings into our lives
Who or what inspired your medical career?
My parents inspired me to accomplish my goals, my hometown dentist, Dr. Bernell Simmons inspired me to be
a dentist and my husband and sons inspire me to provide the kind of healthcare that I want them to receive.
In your opinion, what is the public’s biggest misconception about your field?
That dentistry is always painful or negative. Good oral health is part of overall well being, and a beautiful smile is transforming!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I never get tired of spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren!
Reagan Hall, D.M.D
Who or what inspired your medical career?
One of my best friend’s dad, Dr. Clyde Sprayberry, growing up was an awesome dentist on the Coast. I’ve always wanted to have a gift of helping people. Dentistry is a profession that offers that and so much more.
What does practicing medicine mean to you?
One of the things that I’ve learned from practicing dentistry for 28
years is that it’s the relationships and friendships that I’ve developed with my patients over the years that have meant the most in my career.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with family and friends. We love the water, the mountains, and sports of course!
Eli Lowry, D.M.D
What is the best advice you’ve received?
Treat everyone with dignity and respect; you never know where someone is coming from or what they’re going through.
Who or what inspired your medical career?
I chose dentistry after braces changed my life. I had a complete 180 in attitude and confidence thanks to my new smile, and I wanted to be able to help give people pretty smiles.
In your opinion, what is the public’s biggest misconception about your field?
The biggest misconception about our field is that we just fill holes in teeth. Dentistry is a very complex field that is intertwined with the medical field in maintaining health. The mouth is the entrance to the body, so it stands to reason that good overall health starts with good oral health.
Loggan Malone Weihe, D.M.D
What is the best advice you’ve received?
Listen more than you speak. You were given two ears and one mouth for a reason. I believe this is great advice for any health care professional.
In your opinion, what is the public’s biggest misconception about your field?
Dentistry can have a reputation of being painful and costly. Regular check ups can help to prevent those dental emergencies that require expensive treatment, so be sure to schedule your 6 month cleanings so potential areas
of concern can be addressed.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy gardening, kayaking, and all things outdoors. On weekends, you might find me singing karaoke or enjoying one of our Gulf Coast beaches.
