The police headquarters has up-to-date audio and visual technology throughout along with advanced programming
for identifying finger prints and interrogating suspects. There are outside lock boxes where officers leave their guns before entering the holding cell. The K9 unit also has a separate space complete with a dog washing station. Another helpful feature is the safe exchange zone at the front entrance to the building. These two parking spots have cameras
to record any activity that takes place there such as children going from one parent to another parent. Chief Payne saw someone transact a four wheeler sale there under the camera's careful eye.
Both city departments are
mindful of past and possible future hurricanes. Chief Payne and Fire Chief Gerald Smith point out the RV hookups between the two facilities where other groups can come in to help with storm cleanup.
