Seafood Gumbo.
the menu for the next series of dishes. A popular dish amongst the locals is the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer. Thinly sliced rounds of tangy, green tomatoes are cornmeal battered and deep fried to golden perfection.
A rich hollandaise, along with fresh lump crabmeat top this decadent appetizer that can be shared or works as the perfect portion for a full-on meal.
The main courses at Steve’s Marina are centered
heavily around delicious Gulf fish. The Freemason Sauce combines mushrooms, green onions, shrimp, crabmeat and white wine and pairs well with a variety of seafood options. Additional favorites are the Shrimp Diane or Seafood Au Gratin. However, the Snapper Meuniere is a weekly special that has quickly become a guest favorite. A generous snapper filet is lightly seasoned and paneed then topped with a Meuniere sauce, which is simply browned butter and white wine. I can’t think of a more enjoyable and scrumptious combination than these. Served alongside a decadent Seafood Squash Casserole, this is a dish that will have you returning to Steve’s Marina time and time again. Pucheu’s homemade Key Lime Pie with a traditional graham cracker crust is light and fluffy and the perfect ending to an incredible meal.
Although local patronage of Steve’s Marina has been unwavering, Pucheu admits that the past 20 years in the restaurant business have been challenging. Steve’s Marina was destroyed and displaced for several years following Hurricane Katrina. After reopening in its original beach front location, Steve’s Marina tackled the same manmade and natural disasters that have plagued many other proprietors along the Coast. However, Pucheu shows no signs of slowing down.
With over 30 employees depending on his success, Pucheu asserts he will continue to do what he must in order for Steve’s Marina to remain open and operational. People continue to support this iconic spot because
of the friendly staff, the beachfront atmosphere and because they know an impeccable meal awaits. Check out Steve’s Marina Wednesdays through Mondays for lunch or dinner. You’ll soon be thankful that when fate came calling, Steve Pucheu answered.
