Who or what inspired you to pursue your current career?
I was inspired during the COVID-19 pandemic to start my business with Alpha-Lit. Crazy, right? Who would want to start a side hustle in the middle of a pandemic? I work full time as the Teacher Academy instructor at Gulfport High School. During the pandemic when school was shut down, I found I had more time on my hands, and I missed being around people. I needed to be involved with people, so the idea of lighting up drive-
by celebrations intrigued me. I found out about Alpha-Lit Marquee Letters from their Nashville location. Once I did my research, I knew immediately that the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the Mobile area desperately needed Alpha-Lit Letters to light up their celebrations and life’s milestones.
What I like best about what I do is:
I love meeting new people, setting up jobs, and traveling to all the unique locations.
Advice I would give to young female entrepreneurs:
Don’t be afraid to take the risk. Make yourself uncomfortable and don’t miss the chance.
My greatest successes have been:
My greatest success is my family. I am married to the most supportive husband, Derrel Wilson, and we have three beautiful children who work and help us in the Alpha-Lit business. Being able to share my strong work ethic with my children is important to me.
