   FAYARD’S
You must have driven by Fayard’s gas station dozens of times, if not more. With even a quick glance you can see they are a convenience store as well, but did you know that Fayard’s is famous for serving hearty breakfasts and killer good poboys? Word is that people drive over from New Orleans just for a Fayard’s poboy, and those folks are sure picky when it comes to this famous sandwich that was invented in their city. That is quite an endorsement.
At the home of the “dressed and pressed poboy,” hands down the best seller is the country roast beef. It comes fully dressed with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and homemade gravy, which is the star of the show. “We cook a sirloin tip roast low and slow for about 7 hours, which is cut by my dad, Keith Fayard, a butcher of 52 years,” says Manager Nicole Fayard. “He also cuts fresh ribeyes and filet mignons, and grinds pure sirloin that customers are obsessed with, daily, just like
he has since he started at the curb market in D’Iberville on Central Avenue.”
Other Fayard’s favorite include daily lunch specials, which are perfect for diners who need a quick turnaround during their lunch break, and homemade pies and bread pudding that are baked fresh daily.
